Babin beach (Vieux-Bourg, Morne-à-l’eau) is famous for mud baths (against rheumatism, osteoarthritis, skin diseases) and picnics.
Babin beach, approximately 300 meters long, is located at Pointe Geffrier, in Anse Babin, at the village called Babin, in the hamlet of Vieux-Bourg, approximately 7km west of Morne-à-l'Eau
Mostly frequented by local residents, the picturesque Babin Beach has an extremely calm body of water.
The mangrove trees, whose roots plunge into the sea, tint the water a brackish color.
Lovers of white sand and turquoise seas might be disappointed. Underfoot, a grayish mud which is precisely the reason more and more swimmers are coming to this beach over the past ten years. Renowned for its virtues against rheumatism, osteoarthritis, and especially skin diseases, the bathers apply this mud on their bodies.
You can also enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the North of Basse-Terre and the mangroves.
